Religion in Texas

What is it about religion in Texas?  Why doesn't it prevent mothers from fatally attacking their children?  First, we had Andrea Yates who killed her kids because they couldn't be allowed to live in a sinful world... 

And now we have this in Plano.  A woman cuts off her child's arms, causing it to die.  And what is on the radio as she calmly speaks to 911?  Religious hymns.
